Restoring Hope: One Bed at a Time

Our purpose is to help to provide bed sets to individuals and small families that are outside of the scope of other nonprofits assisting them. We are a small organization with a narrow niche of people we can help.

We are limited to these four areas:

  1. Family members accepting a child through adoption or foster care.

  2. Individuals or small families in crisis due to fire, flooding, or health issue.

  3. Veterans going through Transitional Housing

  4. Transitional Housing for victims of domestic violence

The Michael Anthony Foundation is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit #42-2308932.

We have selected GiveButter for our donation software, but we are absorbing the platform fee and card processing costs so our donors will not be asked to tip the platform or to cover any costs. The amount of your donation will be the amount on your receipt and card statement.

Our Mission

We know that we cannot help everyone. We have selected these four areas where we can change peoples lives and help them to sleep, while taking an approach based on the individual needs of each specific client.

Family Accepting Child through Adoption or Foster Care

Family members can make a difference to bring in a child of a sibling or child in the case of accident, illness, or treatment to bring stability to the child and to keep with family. We help by providing a bed set to help that transition.

Housing Crisis or Health Crisis

This is a situation we believe would be good partnering with St. Vincent DePaul chapters. People displaced by fire or flooding may have friends or family or offer housing, we would provide bed sets to the individual  or small family. Once insurance pays, family can move the beds into new home. With health issues, this could be an extra bed set for family member taken in after medical emergency.

Veterans in Transitional Housing

Our Veterans have done so much for our country and for us. We will meet with those we are referred to by veteran organizations and sit down to find one of nine beds that fits his or her sleep needs along with a suitable foundation, and full set.

Transitional Housing for Victims of Domestic Violence

When someone is transitioning from a shelter to a home, we will find the ideal bed(s) for them and get them set up. I hope to partner with other nonprofits where we can contribute in our area of specialty to offer a more complete solution.

Community Impact

We will partner with local churches and nonprofits to provide essential beds and bedding during critical transitions.

Church Partnerships

We will be able to support St. Vincent de Paul organizations and others get beds where needed to allow those organizations to assist more people.

Transitional Support

Many nonprofits are handcuffed by grant restrictions based on Area Median Income. We want to fill that gap just beyond the range of those restrictions.

Direct Support

By partnering with other nonprofits, we can work in our specialty of beds and bedding, and allow the nonprofit partner(s) the opportunity for deeper support or to help more people.

Why we use Mattress Firm

We have selected to work with Mattress Firm Commercial Sales. As a nonprofit, we can buy at wholesale pricing and include complete delivery. This will also benefit us with product consistency when we expand geographically.

Support Our Community

We are starting out in Northern Oakland and Macomb Counties. We are looking to build partnerships with area nonprofits. Although we are just starting out, I hope to delay a referral form where area nonprofits can suggest clients for us to assist.

We are currently seeking a location to have a fundraiser for late October. I have asked at the Troy VFW but would like the first Fundraiser for The Michael Anthony Foundation to be to raise money for 10-25 bed sets for area Veterans entering Transitional Housing,
